An instantly recognizable and ultra seductive Dolce & Gabbana black stretch silk crochet-knit hourglass gown dating back to their 1997 fall/winter collection. As pictured, a version of our gown was Madonna's choice pick when winning Best Actress at the 1997 Golden Globe awards. I love how she paired the garment with lean, long black gloves. Dolce & Gabbana are considered the inventors of a Mediterranean style that draws its inspiration from women of Italian realism, sensual and austere like Anna Magnani, to whom they dedicated a collection whose key element was the 1940's slip. They are not looking for a retro look; Dolce & Gabbana turned to the past for innovation. The designers once stated, "We want to use the past to project it into the future". This highly coveted built-in bra bodycon gown is a wonderful example of their genius. The figure flattering stretch ribbed crochet silk knit hugs the body perfectly.
