  • 1999 Dolce & Gabbana Runway Hand-Painted Bamboo Stretch Silk Gown

Bridget Fonda in the movie Monkeybone (2001).
Stunning Dolce & Gabbana hourglass hand-painted bamboo ivory white stretch silk gown dating back to their documented 1999 spring/summer runway collection. As shown, the gorgeous Bridget Fonda wears the same seductive style in the 2001 film "Monkeybone". Dolce & Gabbana are considered the inventors of a Mediterranean style that draws its inspiration from women of Italian realism, sensual and austere like Anna Magnani, to whom they dedicated a collection whose key element was the 1940's slip. They are not looking for a retro copy; Dolce & Gabbana turned to the past for innovation. The designers once stated, "We want to use the past to project it into the future". This gorgeous gown is a wonderful example of their genius. The fabric itself is sensational; a hand-painted black bamboo motif on a flattering mid-weight ivory white stretch silk that hugs the body perfectly. The black velvet thin-strap bodice has a plunging front and built in corset style boning throughout the waist for an extra hourglass look. The sculpted wiggle skirting skimming the hips while creating a stunning shape.

    Measurements
    Marked 44
    Bust: 36-40 inches
    Waist: 29-33 inches
    Hips: up to 42
    Total Length: 57 inches

This 1999 Dolce and Gabbana designer runway dress is in excellent condition with no rips, holes or fade. It closes at the back with off-center zipper. Built-in boning and lined with silk. Only sign of age is one very faint concealer mark by the left bodice seam. Please message of a detailed picture. A wonderful investment piece that will only increase in value.
